I Am Legend

Contrary to what others find it, i actually find this film quite interesting... and exciting.. maybe because i'm not watching it in a theatre and spending my money.. and of course there is the fact that i'm craving for some movies to watch. So i chose this one and to be honest, i find it better than other post apocalyptic shows (28 days later, 28 months later, 28 years later? 28 etc etc etc) where virus infection has spread through and killed everyboday. And of course, will smith is a good actor :) 8/10

Flying on Wheels

Sadly, i wasnt able to do that today because of gloomy weather and intermittent rains. But recently i've picked up this hobby (recently = few months back) and i'm very happy to say that finally, after falling down a few times and inujuring myself a few times, i can blade. And it's more fun than cycling... haha. at least for now.

There you see it. It's my beloved bumblebee :D

Crysis

Finally, i got to finish this game after intermittent gameplays and busy schedule. Guess this period is the only time that i can breathe and do without practice for a while and thus, play games to kill some of my time. What else can be said about Crysis? Hmm.. if not for the few bugs that i encountered at the end it would have been perfect.. and there's going to be a sequel to it, or maybe more so stay tuned :) At the end of the day, this is a fantastic game. Not as engaging as COD4, but more like Commando and single-handedly destroying everything. haa haa. 9.5/10

Wedding Day

is busy day. And of course, it is a tremendously joyous occasion so here i am, wishing Mr and Mrs Lim a blissful marriage ahead of them and may they have many babies to come. Even though Mrs Lim likes to suan me a lot, i shall hereby overlook that point for one day and wish them a very happy honeymoon at NZ :D how nice i am. HAA HAA.

As you all can see, it was David and May's turn last year and this year, they've brought a little addition with his pong pong cheeks to the wedding! Hi baby Declan!

Well other than wedding day, had some audition in the afternoon as well, and surprisingly, it didnt take very long. With Shili's superb directional skills, i managed to get lost in Bugis before finding Tim and make my way to the meeting point.

Us after the audition. Humidity was soaring and that's why everyone look so uh... tired and wet.

And of course, how could we forget the fabulous wedding night. This year, i have the honor to be the MC again and decided to wear something special. (actually, it's because i dont have any other suit to wear after that afternoon's sweaty intervention at Music Garage)

What an eventful day. I was snoozing even before i got home. Once again, i would like to congratulate Mr and Mrs Lim on their big day and finally, Jason dont have to sleep on the floor.

Movie Mania

Due to recent travelling and busy schedule, the blog has been a little inactive. But it doesnt mean i am, and some ppl requested that i post some more pics but i'm just lazy larh.. maybe sooner... or later... haha depending on my mood...

Just got a com for Christmas so havent really showed it yet but have been busy playing games and of course watching movies so i shall now talk more about the recent shows that i've caught.. not really a good blockbuster new year i would say..

Alvin and the Chipmunks!

First up is the best of the lot i think, and i just love the way the chipmunks sing and well, i find myself singing to their songs after a while.. Theodore is really cute.. But of course, there is the predictable storyline, the lack of realism (but it's acceptable and very cute) and so forth.. but overall, i think the music really rox.. well, if you can talk in chipmunk voice.. 7/10

Alien Vs Predator 2

Next up, is the crappiest of the lot. Watched the first one but i dunno what got me to watch the second one because it is really something that tries to be very tense but turns out to be like a joke. Please larh. 4/10

National Treasure 2

This one is quite exciting actually. Just watched it this afternoon and well, if it aint the movie craze that i have in KL now.. haha.. cheap tix.. It's a bit exaggerated.. and well 'a bit' is if you can imagine yourself kidnapping the President of US of A and get away with it.. yeap. that's how real the show is, but it's really quite exhilirating. 6/10

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare

After an arduous semester of crappy modules and tough eggs to crack, finally i get to play some games.. serious games i mean... and today i shall talk about non other than COD4, which is a major hit in the gaming industry as it is just fantastic. Yes it is damn chio and the gameplay, even though a bit short, it really is something that is very intriguing and engaging that you will just kept glued to your screen for HOURS... and i mean it.. it got me into troubles.. so here's the score for it.. 9/10

I feel GOOD!!!

and yes indeed i do, for obvious reasons... exams ended (even though it has undoubtedly taken a huge toll on me) and the church camp's coming, and i'm going home!!!! WOOHOO!!! it just feels good when there's no exams to take and nothing to not-look-forward-to.

so i've decided to cheer everybody up by putting one of my favourite cartoons of all time. Even though it's only one picture, larson has never failed to make me laugh at his Far Side comics and here are just some which i found on the net and i had some good time LMAO-ing.

Console vs PC?

Lately, it has been very stressful. With exams and all coming to you like deathrows, it feels kinda tight and suffocated. Well anyways, that's why i'm here to post this. In a way, i always feel that great revelations occur together. I mean, if you study science, you'll know that a certain someone once discovered a certain something independently with another certain someone at different place at about the same time. It's true. there has been endless accounts of people discovering stuff only to realise that he's maybe 1 day or 2 days later than the other guy who's like 30,000 miles away or something. Makes you wonder if we humans are destined to know these certain truths at a certain time.

But i digress. Looking at 2007, it has been a great year. Especially for the gaming industry. With the arrival of many consoles such as PS3, XBOX 360, Wii... More a marketting gimick than some divine revelation as in science, gone are the good ol' days when the very first Playstation rule the world, with very puny resistance from the likes of Sega Dreamcast (huh?? what is that?? exactly.) In fact, there's so many to choose from, you'd probably have to own all 3 in order to play all your favourite games.

PC used to be the most zai gaming platform ever. There was the first RTS ever, and i even remembered playing the very first Doom on a 486 computer. That was when Nintendo was firing away with their Mario Bros. Over the years, games has evolved of course. Now the graphics, gameply, control and more recently, the online features are all something which a game needs to sell big. In fact, it has evolved so much that the government has step in (not only about piracy, of course) to put their foot down.

Mass Effect, an XBOX 360 game which was initially banned by MDA in Singapore but later rated as M18.

So the big question remains - is our grand old daddy gamin' platform PC going down the drain? With so much firepower from the graphics of PS3, the online features of XBOX 360 live and heck the tiring (very tiring actually) control of the Wii, is the PC going to be outdated to become merely a word processing machine?

The answer is NO. Not in a million years. Quite simply, the consoles can never beat the PC. With the development of hardwares and most notably the graphics card, the gaming industry has always centralised around developing games for the PC, albeit some fantastic ones from Sony. Well only some. In terms of graphics, PC is waaaaaaaaaayyyyy beyond that of the consoles. Even if it's not, it will be in maybe a couple of months after the console is launched? Which is like now if you consider PS3 being launched a few months ago.

Crysis, the most demanding game of 2007. PS3's engine will probably cry before it can load the menu screen.

Well, that's just the graphics. What about gameplay and replayability? Ahh.. so have you heard of any game still being played competitively after it's been released for more than 10 years? No? you're wrong. Of course there is and it's none other than the Korean national sport - on a PC.

If you dont know this game, you shouldnt be wasting time reading this.

Simply put, PC just beats the consoles hands down. We dont even venture into the online features or the controls (playing FPS on an analog controller just stinks - however you look at it). So there you are, the grand ol daddy of gaming. *salutes*

I'm bored. Exams are driving me nuts.

Lack of Updates

Hi ppl!! the apparent lack of updates is due to nothing more but the oncoming exams which is in about 20 days time? that is NOT a good thing considering i havent really started studying. It just totally kills your mood to do anything and the worse thing is, the construction at the back is really just being anal. and i mean it. they should just go and die.

Wants

Hmm.. yeap it's always the feeling of ownership that drives people to buy so many things. Me included. more than often, it's just a 'want' rather than a 'need'. ohh i have many 'want's of course. after all, i'm just a human.

but that being said, sometimes it really gets on my nerve when i cant get what i need. haa haa. or maybe it's been blurred between 'need' and 'want'. suddenly when you allow yourself to fall into a continuous chain of complaints, you find that everything around you needs to be replaced. your guitar sux, your computer is laggy, heck even your clothes look like they've been in the wardrobe for 1000 years.

oh well. that's why i acquired a very useful phrase in German. still learning how to apply it though. haa haa. here goes: Ich wünschte, ich wäre immer zufrieden.

go figure. it saves a lot of worries.

Public Holidays

After studying for about 1.5 years in this institution, i've come to conclude that NUS is an expert in absorbing public holidays. no wonder they call it No Use Studying, because when exams come, you'll just hope that you had more time but you dont.

last year they absorbed 2 days of CNY holidays into the recess week. MIND YOU. recess week is not really recess per se, it's more like study-your-ass-off-so-that-you-dont-screw-up week.

for some reason, i've lost the motivation to study and i'm just complaining and whining and wadsoeva. it's getting a bit tired after one year of this nonsense. Plus the construction is not really encouraging. >.<

MTT

that's rite ppl. MTTs are over.. not MIT, not MKII and heck it's not even SKII. Mid Term Tests are over! Hurrah! cant wait for friday to come. for all those who can come down on fri nite, Freeloaders are playing at Bar Celona @ Robertson Quay from 9 - 12. CYA!

Resident Evil: Extinction

Yeap i know the blog is a bit stagnant nowadays thanks to the bombardment of the mid term tests. Strangely though, i still have the time to get to watch this film... HAA HAA.. which says quite a bit about what i've been doing... well back to the film - it's action packed and well, i think it's a bit short though.. but cool effects and stuff.. so i shall give it a 7/10

2 days in 1.5 years

Alrite... it's been 1.5 years and finally!!! wala!! i'm meeting my sister for less than 2 days.. actually with the combined hours, it might just barely made it a day. but anyways, quality time is better than quantity time so here's something that we had today.. just now actually.. with MLE 2102 test tomorrow...

and dont get me started with MLE 2101 today. i want to be happy...

Mangas

Alrite.. actually this is nothing new, but just to add to what i've been doing for the.. ehh.. past, well ehh.. year, i've been logging up to the internet everyday, but on weekends, it's especially exciting due to the release of new chapters of... none other than... MANGAS!!! currently i'm only reading 2 and i guess that's more than enough as the stories are really VERY exciting. ppl watch dramas rite... Heroes, Prison Break, Korean dramas... but mangas are one of kind..

used to be hooked up to anime but when i switched to these babes, animes are just second class.. so i've put the links of where i read them every week - i dont dl them coz it's too troublesome.. and here's the 2 which are just terrific!!!

Naruto - which i started out with the anime and got bored with their fillers so i swapped to the manga. BEST ever. Better than DragonBall i believe.

and.. BLEACH! more popular but i guess Naruto's still the best.

MLE 2101 ==> GG

just to inform those who dont really know what gg means. usually when you play dota, which is a fun and of course addictive game, there will be a lot of lingo. like eg, glhf - which means 'Good Luck Have Fun' or T_T which looks like a face with tears coming down from both eyes.

or gg. which means 'good game'. it's usually used by the, well, losing party when their throne or their tree is about to be taken down. OH, throne and tree both refers to the final structure that the teams have to defend, depending on which team u're on. and SO, it kinda sounds sarcastic coz gg means that the game is going to end.. or sort of throwing in the towel attitude.

NOW. why would i talk about gg? because MLE 2101 ==> GG. BIG GG. and i'm the one saying it, so if you figured, you'd know what kind of attitude i'm adopting towards this wonderful and well, not addictive module.

Exercise

Was off to the doctors yesterday because lately, due to stress or wadsoeva from TGIO or wad i dunno larh.. or maybe due to the stupid deodorant which i used on my sensitive skin, i've been having eczema. Just in case you dunno what on earth is that, you can go look it up in wiki and warn you. it wouldnt be nice and that's why i didnt put it up on my blog.

BUT!! that's not the main point. Main point is, i went to the wellness centre at YIH and guess what... they asked me to take my weight coz they dont have a record of it. To my horror, i'm now officially 61 kg. $!%#$^@$%^@$%^ not that i mind my weight a lot but well, i've never hit 60 in my whole entire life and this is the second time only.

ohkay you might say well, 61 is ok wad. you're quite tall. but thinking back these few months, i havent been exercising. AT ALL. not even taking a walk in the park or some sort. AND THAT'S BAD. maybe that's why i got eczema. no exercise.

SOOO!! i went off to a run and swam yesterday. Just came back from a run today and it felt kinda refreshing.. HAHA!! managed to run to vivo before hogging on an SBS flagging my white flag coz my calves just cant take it anymore. think should run more often. cures my eczema!! haha!!!

alrite peeps. exercise is healthy. go get some runs.

Ratatouille

Went to watch the movie in a very happy mood *winks*. Even though i have like 2 tests in a row and well, TGIO is on thursday!!!! But still, it was worth the movie to watch. and it was of course worth the time spent *winks*. Story is about a small, cute little mouse, eh.. rat i mean, who wants to be chef and he eventually did. I must say, Disney has been hitting the right spot with Finding Nemo, Mr Incredible and now this. Great job! 8.5/10

KR DND

stands for: Kent Ridge! DO NOT DISTURB. Which is kind of irony since all around KR, there's been this serious concentration for construction. No larh obviously it stands for KR Dinner and Dance but yar, the constructions are getting on my nerves.

Been a year and they are still bloody making a lot of noise and the worse thing is, it's getting worse. so i shall hence leave this post with something happier. A PICTURE!!! of our very dear mr Eh Hello Hello!

Give Thanks

For His abundant grace and mercy that He showered upon me this busy period.

Had a test this morning and well, i thought that i did quite well but i only found out some mistakes after the test. But still, i had the peace when i finished the test, knowing that i've done my best under this sort of circumstances and many a time, i think that's the peace that only God can give you. So it's something to give thanks about : )

TGIO is in 1 week's time. Was initially very worried about practices which clashes with a lot of other events in hall. AGM, DND etc. But thanks to God's grace and to the bunch of Rockers who are very cooperative, i guess we're on good times. Dare not say anything yet until the big day. Haa haa.

Needless to say, tests are swarming in before the mid term break - i have another German sem test and a Nation Building test next week. Just want to pray for the peace in my heart and to give thanks for His grace for me :)

Rogue Assasin

Thanks to Tim's car, and the sudden, spontaneous spur of thought, the few of us managed to catch this late nite film yesterday. It was re-titled Rogue Assasin and that's why my title is Rogue Assasin instead of WAR. But things aside, this is a great film! i go in didnt expecting anything spectacular other than some kick ass action but the story does have a pretty interesting plot and a twist at the end! Go watch ppl. Worth your money! 8.5/10

TGIO

Ok. TGIO stands for? Thank God It's Over! Wad's over? IBG lor. Wad's IBG? Inter block games. Wad's inter block games? it's some sports between the blocks in KR. wad's KR? Kent Ridge Hall larh. So you can see the frustration of a non-Singaporean trying to understand just some simple lingo of Singlish.

Anyway, points aside, was looking through the pics of last year's TGIO and found some pics to post here. For those who still dont know what TGIO is for, it's an annual Rockers performance to celebrate the end of IBG and we have sort of like a concert out at the porch.

The KRockers. Krockers. krockers. oh well.

This little yellow sponge has been around for quite a while already. Hope to see it again at TGIO 2007!!! haa haa!!

And i have no idea how on earth does mr Ian, aka HKI did this amazing trick on miss liao aka lao jiao minister such that she appeared from the HAT! they were just fooling around before the gig starts. haha.

Anyway, this year TGIO would be interesting! so ROCK on ppl!!!

Children Camp!

Hi folks! Just came back from Children Camp 07 yesterday. It was at some Aloha Resort at pasir ris and many thanks to jimmy and jason for fetching me to and fro. Waaa.. very far leih.. yar lor.. give thanks to God. Went to help with the BBQ they wanted to have and here's some photos of the cute little ones in church!

Looks like there's a lot of controversies surrounding my national anthem. Since i just well, 'celebrated' my national day, i shall hereby post this video of where the song came from. It's called Mamula Moon. i say Memalukan siah.

Behold, the Flying Panadol

Okay. Remember the last time i talked about my lab session, making poisonous tablets and all. Today the saga continued and it really is quite interesting after all. We got to play with some very cool chemicals, and i mean really very cool. Like -196 degree celsius, because it's liquid nitrogen. First, we have to immerse our panadol in that -196 degree celsius liquid and when we measure the resistivity, it turns out to be 0. Which means it has NO resistance whatsoever.

THEN, we played with something more interesting. we put a magnet on top of the tablet and chill the tablet down to very cool temperatures before releasing it and walaa.

The magnet floats.

Below is the improved tablet with coating on and immersed in the cool solution, which may burn ur skin if u're not careful.

Thing is, if u put 2 normal magnets repelling each other, they might end up flying like that. But for this panadol over here, if u try to pull the tablet on top away, the bottom one will be lifted off the pit! Just a got a little excited coz first time seeing marh. very suaku can.

Alrite. Suddenly our experiment became very happening.
